Recce notes · Sebastian Tercilla · Denver

Read the road before you drive it.

I'm a marketer. I write, design and build the measurement under it, mostly for small teams that have never had a marketer before. These are my notes from each stage so far.

Optimal Healthcare Solutions · 2025–now

The order form was a Word doc

Home health training and consulting, Denver. I've been the only marketer since January 2025. I start at 9:30 with the previous day's comments and the Facebook group's join requests, then post by 10:30 from a content calendar I build each month, including the Marketing Monday and Workflow Wednesday series. Course reminders go out the day before class, and the newsletter at month's end.

  • DON'T CUTManuals sold by downloading a .docx and emailing it back.

  • OVER CRESTGA4, Tag Manager and Search Console built from nothing, so the next decision has data behind it.
  • KEEP INOne design language for the site and every post. The Publisher-era posts are gone.
  • FLAT OUTAbout 115 articles, bringing in 1 in 5 new visitors. Bing sends a quarter of our organic search.

Next stage, with a budget · first 90 days
  1. Put the tools I pay for myself on the company card.
  2. Same paid test on Meta and Google, with attribution. Spend follows the better return.
  3. Push on AI search, since it already sends buyers.
  4. Designed posters in the classroom instead of marker on easel paper.

Heavy Hands Heavy Hearts · 2024

A boxing gym that got kids out of gangs

Brought in to grow the partner list, run social and the site, and start a newsletter. With no ad spend, Facebook page visits doubled and reach grew 6% from April to August. The foundation closed that fall, before most of the rest could ship.

Caregiver · 2022–2023

Off the road, still learning

I cared for my dad through hospice and took every free Google and Meta course I could find in the hours between. He was a car fanatic and a great mechanic, and he taught me never to half-ass anything. He's the reason I moved into marketing.

Sales · 2021–2022

117% of quota, then a layoff

Remote inside sales, then one of three people picked from a team of twelve for a new fleet team. Most of the company was laid off six months later. Good at it; never mine.

English, then PR

I planned on journalism and set out to double-major in English and Mass Comm, then settled on English with a PR minor. I didn't finish. Afterward I streamed on Twitch for a while and built a small community. I want to speak to a lot of people at once. That part hasn't changed.

Service park · the homelab

A server built from parts headed for e-waste

Spare motherboard, CPU, RAM and drives, plus a case. Now it runs the things I'd otherwise pay a subscription for, like a recipe app that strips the SEO fluff off food blogs. More in the service park →
